Derek has officially retired!

After 22 years at Chesil Beach Motors, Derek has retired.

Statement from Derek.

When on a morning in May 1976 I nervously walked into the showrooms of Vogue Motors on Dorchester Road, Weymouth I had no clue that I was embarking on an adventure that was to last for 46 years. Adventure you might think is too strong a word but my life as a car salesman has most definitely been an adventure with lots of fun and laughter and an occasional tear on the way.

Over time I have met thousands of people who with their different personalities, needs and expectations have made life interesting and challenging. It has been said you can’t please all of the people all of the time, but I’d like to think I have pleased most of the people most of the time. Indeed some customers have become valued friends and others have trusted me with their motoring requirements over very many years.

Now that I’m bowing out and hopefully going to be leading a less stressful and more relaxed life, I want to take this opportunity to say a big thank you. Thank you to anyone who has purchased their car through me, thank you for your trust, thank you for your patience on the occasions things have gone wrong and thank you for making life interesting with your many and varied conversations and opinions.

Finally I would like to say thank you to all of my colleagues in the motor trade past and present whose work behind the scenes in other departments enables the sales department to sell and deliver the cars to our customers.
